Can I use the softbox for filming?

Absolutely! We've noticed an increasing trend of photography techniques being used in filmmaking. The FlatLight™ DOUBLE-66182 softbox is a cost-effective alternative to budget panel lights (known as kinoflo). It offers the same results at a much lower price.

What's the difference between an octagonal and rectangular softbox?

The most noticeable difference is in the shape of reflections on reflective surfaces, especially in portrait and fashion photography. Octagonal softboxes mimic solar reflections due to their circular-like shape. They also provide a better light distribution (especially when lighting from the front).

What should I keep in mind?

Softboxes work best at close distances. Place them as close as possible to your subjects or objects, right on the edge of the frame.
The larger the softbox diameter, the softer the tonal transition between light and shadow.
If you need to illuminate from a distance, remove the diffusive fabric. This will give you even more light.
