Absolutely! We're seeing an increasing trend of photography techniques being used in film production. The SOFTBOX 40x60cm light fixture provides a budget-friendly alternative to panel lights (also known as kinoflo) and delivers the same results at a lower cost.
What's the difference between an octagonal softbox and a rectangular one?
The most noticeable difference is in the shape of reflections on reflective surfaces. This is particularly evident in portrait and fashion photography, where the octagonal shape, which resembles a circle, mimics sunlight reflections. Octagonal softboxes also feature better light distribution (especially when lighting from the front).
What should I keep in mind?
- Softboxes work best at close distances. Position them as close to your subjects or objects as possible, right on the edge of the frame.
- The larger the softbox diameter, the softer the tonal transition between light and shadow.
- If you need to illuminate from a greater distance, remove the diffusive fabric. This will give you even more light.
