FAQs
Can I use the softbox for filming?
Absolutely! Softboxes are increasingly being used in filmmaking, especially as an affordable alternative to panel lights (kinoflo). The SOFTBOX 40x60cm provides a similar effect at a lower cost.
What's the difference between an octagonal and rectangular softbox?
The main difference is in the shape of reflections on reflective surfaces. Octagonal softboxes mimic circular sunlight reflections, especially noticeable in portrait and fashion photography. They also provide a better light distribution, particularly when lighting from the front.
Tips for using softboxes
- Softboxes work best at close distances. Position them as close to your subject or object as possible, just outside the frame.
- The larger the softbox diameter, the softer and more gradual the tonal transition between light and shadow.
- If you need to illuminate from a distance, remove the diffusive fabric. This will provide even more light output.

CINEGEN®
Digishots Sp. z o.o.
CineGEN® — studio equipment designed by practitioners
CineGEN® is a Polish studio equipment brand we created in 2011 in Janki near Warsaw. We don't have 35 years of tradition or offices on two continents — what we do have is around 40,000 orders with CineGEN® products fulfilled every year and 15 years of working with light, which taught us what actually works in a studio.
The brand was born for a simple reason: selling other people's equipment, we too often had to explain flaws we had no control over. We preferred taking responsibility to making excuses — so we started building our own.
How we work
Specifications and part of the designs are created in Poland; manufacturing takes place in China, under our supervision. We say this openly, because that's how studio equipment is made all over the world today. The difference lies in who sets the requirements and who answers for the result: every batch arrives at our warehouse in Janki, where we inspect it, and before a product enters our catalogue, we work with it ourselves — on packshots, portraits and video shoots.
Our product descriptions state real parameters and real limitations. A 200 PLN lamp won't replace a 2,000 PLN kit — and we won't pretend otherwise.
What you'll find under the CineGEN® brand
Continuous lighting (FlatLight™, Lumifi™, ReLed™, Ensö™ panels with CRI >95), Ignitix™ photographic bulbs, softboxes and light modifiers, lighting, photo and video stands and tripods (including the Jupiter™ series), and home studio kits.
What we stand behind
