We've noticed an increasing trend of photography techniques being used in filmmaking, and our SOFTBOX 40x60cm light fixture offers a budget-friendly alternative to panel lights (aka kinoflo). It's a cost-effective solution that delivers the same results. What sets an octagonal softbox apart from a rectangular one? The difference is most noticeable in the shape of reflections on reflective surfaces, especially in portrait and fashion photography. Octagonal softboxes mimic solar reflections with their circular shape and also offer a better light distribution (especially when lighting from the front). Here are some tips to keep in mind: 1. Softboxes work best at close range. Position them as close as possible to your subjects or objects, right on the edge of the frame. 2. The larger the softbox diameter, the softer the tonal transition between light and shadow. 3. If you need to illuminate from a distance, remove the diffusive fabric. This will give you even more light.

CineGEN® — studio equipment designed by practitioners

CineGEN® is a Polish studio equipment brand we created in 2011 in Janki near Warsaw. We don't have 35 years of tradition or offices on two continents — what we do have is around 40,000 orders with CineGEN® products fulfilled every year and 15 years of working with light, which taught us what actually works in a studio.

The brand was born for a simple reason: selling other people's equipment, we too often had to explain flaws we had no control over. We preferred taking responsibility to making excuses — so we started building our own.

How we work

Specifications and part of the designs are created in Poland; manufacturing takes place in China, under our supervision. We say this openly, because that's how studio equipment is made all over the world today. The difference lies in who sets the requirements and who answers for the result: every batch arrives at our warehouse in Janki, where we inspect it, and before a product enters our catalogue, we work with it ourselves — on packshots, portraits and video shoots.

Our product descriptions state real parameters and real limitations. A 200 PLN lamp won't replace a 2,000 PLN kit — and we won't pretend otherwise.
