Softbox

Softboxes have long been a fundamental element of photographic studios. They are used to modify the properties of light: the size of the luminous surface, intensity and direction of light. Recently they are gaining increasing popularity in video productions. They are an excellent alternative to Kinoflo type lamps. The softbox is designed to soften the light, thereby reducing or eliminating shadows.

The fixture presented here is a high-quality, functional softbox suitable for both flash bulbs and continuous light bulbs with a E27 screw thread.

The softbox dome - an octagon (octa) with a diameter of 60 cm - is lined on the inside with embossed, silver material: the light is evenly distributed within the softbox, ensuring that the front diffuser maintains uniform power across its entire surface without any weakening effect as you move away from the center to the edges.

The exterior of the softbox is matte black, preventing it from reflecting light from other lamps. It has a standard mounting for a lighting stand.

Folding/unfolding this particular softbox is exceptionally simple, and when folded, it takes up very little space and is highly mobile. The high-quality materials used in the construction of the softbox guarantee trouble-free operation over many years. They are designed and manufactured to ensure safe use with fluorescent bulbs.

Studio stand

Lightweight, studio and outdoor three-section lighting stand. Maximum height of 200cm, working height 190cm, convenient section clamps, 16mm studio head with universal 1/4" thread. Designed for use with small and medium lamps as well as lighting kits. It works perfectly in a configuration with flash and continuous light bulbs, softboxes, RedHead type halogen lamps.

Its dimensions when folded have been reduced by the use of a telescopic folding mechanism, thus not limiting its wide range of applications and versatility. Leg spread (from foot to foot) 75cm.

This fluorescent lamp generates light with a color ideal for photographic applications - it does not introduce any color distortions. Thanks to its natural color rendering, the bulb is perfect for photographers working under continuous lighting conditions. The low power consumption enables the use of this bulb in both open fixtures as well as partially closed ones (softboxes, diffusers, octas). Can I use a softbox for filming?

Absolutely. Recently, we have been observing an increasing overlap of applications reserved for photography in the world of film. The SOFTBOX OCTA 60cm continuous light fixture is an excellent alternative to budget panel lamp versions (so-called Kinoflo). The cost of such a solution is significantly lower while achieving the same effect.

What's the difference between an octagonal softbox and a rectangular one?

The easiest way to tell them apart is by looking at the shape of reflections on reflective surfaces. This is particularly noticeable in portrait and fashion photography - the octagonal shape, similar to circular, mimics solar reflections. Octagonal softboxes also have a better light distribution (especially when lighting from the front).

What should you keep in mind?

1. Softboxes work best at short distances. Place them as close as possible to the people or objects being lit, right on the edge of the frame.
2. The larger the softbox diameter, the softer the tonal transition between light and shadow.
3. If you have to shine from a long distance - remove the diffusive fabric. You will then get even more light.
