The SoftTop™ Lanterns studio light set is an excellent way to illuminate your scene. The SoftTop™ Lanterns emit soft, natural light, dispersing it evenly in all directions. The idea for these lamps comes directly from film sets, where spherical softboxes are commonly used. They are employed to fill shadows in the background, enhance color accuracy, improve image plasticity and tonal dynamics. These lights are perfect for filming indoors as a "fill" light with gentle intensity. The double set allows you to create more natural, "cinematic" scene lighting. The complete kit is ready to use once assembled.
Based on professional film set experiences, CineGEN® has created lamps centered around a hemispherical light modifier - the Helio™ 60 softbox. Most of the reflector's surface has been replaced with diffusing fabric. This changes how light propagates and, as a result, alters the lighting effect. The Helio™ softboxes create vast, soft areas of light with gentler intensity compared to classic oktas of the same power. The light is omnidirectional (360°), with a relatively large light source size. The lamp's height allows you to use the ceiling as a natural reflector.
The light from SoftTop™ Lanterns complements background lighting perfectly. Often, especially in amateur video, we see a frame with the foreground well-lit (usually a face) and an underexposed background (the room interior). Placing SoftTop™ Lanterns in the background allows you to simultaneously illuminate it while highlighting the foreground through contour lighting (hairlight, three-point lighting, movie look).
Adding SoftTop™ Lanterns improves tonal dynamics, enhancing image quality (and indirectly increasing throughput during digital recording), allowing for lower sensitivities and improving plasticity and color accuracy.
Helio™ 60 Softboxes (2 pcs.)
The Helio™ is a surprisingly effective adaptation of professional spherical softboxes. Its genius lies in utilizing an existing, proven solution - the integrated octagonal softbox - and creating a modifier with the properties of a completely different fixture: a spherical softbox. As a result, you get a professional lamp at an unbeatable price for classic construction. Assembly is also quick and easy, just like setting up a studio umbrella, saving valuable time. The diffusing fabric provides good light dispersion while only slightly reducing intensity.
The Helio™ 60 has a classic E27 bulb fitting and a mounting socket for lighting stands (most studio stands will fit). You can use low-temperature photo fluorescent tubes or LED bulbs in the softbox (closed fixture).
The SoftTop™ Lanterns set already includes appropriately matched bulbs and studio stands.
PureLight 65W Photo Bulbs (2 pcs.)
The bulbs used in the lamp are specialized fluorescent tubes for photographic and video applications. PureLight bulbs have a standardized color temperature of 5500K (neutral). The bulb generates light with an ideal color for photography and video, avoiding any color distortions. Thanks to its natural color rendering, it is perfect for photographers working under constant lighting conditions. Using constant lighting allows you to model the light faster and better predict the final result in photos. Its low power consumption makes this bulb suitable for both open fixtures and partially enclosed ones (softboxes, diffusers, octas). The generated light stream, achieved after approximately 90 seconds of use, is 3900 lumens, equivalent to a 325W halogen bulb. PureLight bulbs are characterized by high parameter repeatability (light flux and color rendering index).
Studio Stands (2 pcs.)
These studio and outdoor, three-section lighting stands have a maximum height of 210cm and a working height of 200 cm. They feature comfortable section clamps and a 16mm studio head with a universal 1/4" thread. The stands are designed for use with small and medium lamps and lighting kits. They work perfectly in configurations with flash or constant light lamps, softboxes, and halogen lights. Their compact dimensions when folded have been reduced through the use of a telescopic folding mechanism, ensuring a wide range of applications (from 78 to 210 cm, adjustable smoothly at any height) without limiting their versatility. The leg spread (from base to base) is 75cm.
The stands allow you to work with SoftTop™ Lanterns in most cases encountered in a home studio setting. Their height allows framing from sitting positions up to wide shots of entire rooms.
