Do you want your shots to be mesmerizing with their richness of colors and details? Are you aware that properly chosen lighting enhances the quality of photos? The octagonal Vidoo™ studio lights bring colors to life, increase sharpness, and add depth to your images. They are ideal for those who need professional-looking photos for auctions or online stores. Perfect for portraits, beauty shots, fashion, and glamour photography. Using lights from the Vidoo™ series significantly reduces the time spent on post-processing.

Vivid Colors

More light means lower ISO sensitivity, resulting in better color saturation.

Sharp Image

With more light, you get shorter exposure times, less camera shake, and thus a sharper image.

Richness of Depth

More light improves the illumination of objects in the background, making the image more three-dimensional.

Softboxes are a fundamental element of a photographic studio. They are used to modify the properties of light: the size of the luminous surface, intensity, and direction of light. Recently, they have gained popularity in video productions as well. An excellent alternative to kinoflo lights. Softboxes soften tonal transitions between light and shadow.

Tip: Most lighting issues within a frame often result from an excess of light rather than its absence. When setting up your lighting, start with the lamps that have the least impact on the entire scene - set up the key (main) light last.

Lighting Fixture

The lighting fixture consists of a quadruple E27 bulb holder and a softbox hood (reflective and diffusing fabric, as well as tensioning rods). The shape of the hood was chosen to ensure that the maximum amount of light reaches the diffusion fabric.

The softbox is made from high-quality materials used by leading manufacturers. On the inside, it has a silver, metallic reflective surface which prevents light emission backward and sideways, reflecting it in the desired direction - onto the diffusing fabric. This ensures that the maximum amount of light reaches the photographed object. The exterior of the softbox is matte black, preventing it from reflecting light from other lamps.

The softbox is designed to work with four bulbs with a maximum power of 85W/400W each. It allows for step-less power regulation by turning on/off pairs of bulbs (two switches): 0%-50%-100%. The set can be attached to lighting stands using a bracket that provides any angle adjustment.

Rear Panel of the Lighting Fixture

Controlling the lamp is very simple and limited to two switches that turn on either the left or right pair of lamps. A 3A fuse is located in the "FUSE" socket. In the central part, there is an opening for mounting an optional umbrella.

CGLS-802 Studio Stand

A lightweight, studio and outdoor, three-section lighting stand. Maximum height of 230cm, working height of 220 cm, convenient section clamps, a 16mm studio head with a universal 1/4" thread. The stand is designed to work with small and medium lamps as well as lighting sets. It will also perform well in configurations with flash and continuous lights, softboxes, and RedHead halogen lamps. Good build quality, 12-month warranty.

Its folded dimensions have been reduced by using a telescopic folding mechanism, thus not limiting the wide range of work (ranging from 78 to 220 cm, adjustable smoothly at any height) and versatility of applications. The leg spread (from foot to foot) is 75cm.

Photo Bulb (85W/5500K)

This fluorescent bulb generates light with a color ideal for photographic applications - it does not introduce any color bias. Thanks to its natural color rendering, the bulb is perfect for photographers working under continuous lighting. Using constant lighting allows you to model light faster and better predict the final result on your photos. The low power consumption enables using this bulb in both open fixtures as well as partially closed ones (softboxes, diffusers, octas). The luminous flux of the 85W bulb is equivalent to a 400W halogen bulb.

Can I use a softbox for filming?

Absolutely. Recently, we've been observing an increasing trend of photographic applications being used in the world of film. The SOFTBOX 60x90cm continuous light fixture is an excellent alternative to budget panel lamp versions (so-called kinoflo). This solution is significantly cheaper while achieving the same effect.

What's the difference between an octagonal and a rectangular softbox?

The most noticeable difference is the shape of reflections on reflective surfaces. This is particularly evident in portrait and fashion photography - the octagonal shape, similar to circular, mimics solar reflections. Octagonal softboxes also have a better light distribution (especially when lighting from the front).

What should you keep in mind?

  1. Softboxes work best at short distances. Place them as close to the illuminated persons or objects, right on the edge of the frame.
  2. The larger the softbox diameter, the softer the tonal transition between light and shadow.
  3. If you need to illuminate from a long distance - remove the diffusing fabric. This will give you even more light.

How to assemble the SOFTBOX / OCTA lamp?

The lamp will arrive in a package containing: separately, the stand, bulbs, fixture, and softbox. Assembling the lamp involves several steps:

  1. Remove the softbox from its cover, the tensioning rods for the softbox, and the diffusing fabric. Set aside the diffusing fabric.
  2. From the box marked CGLX4, remove the lighting fixture. On the outer edge of the fixture (black plastic), there are eight holes.
  3. Insert the glass fiber rods into the openings in the lighting fixture. It's important to insert the rods with their THICKER end into the fixture. They should go in with a slight resistance.
  4. Lay the softbox fabric (hood) on the floor so that the black material touches the floor, and the silver side faces upward. Leave the Velcro straps unfastened.
  5. Place the lighting fixture on the silver surface. Insert the thinner ends of the rods into the pockets sewn in the corners of the softbox hood.
  6. As you insert more rods, the softbox hood will start to stretch over the bending rods. It may be necessary to use a small amount of force, especially with octagonal softboxes.
  7. After assembling the hood, spread out the lighting stand and attach the fixture to it. Tighten the butterfly screws and fasten the Velcro straps at the back of the hood.
  8. Secure the bulbs in the fixture.
  9. Attach the diffusing fabric by fastening it with Velcro to the hood.

CineGEN® — studio equipment designed by practitioners

CineGEN® is a Polish studio equipment brand we created in 2011 in Janki near Warsaw. We don't have 35 years of tradition or offices on two continents — what we do have is around 40,000 orders with CineGEN® products fulfilled every year and 15 years of working with light, which taught us what actually works in a studio.

The brand was born for a simple reason: selling other people's equipment, we too often had to explain flaws we had no control over. We preferred taking responsibility to making excuses — so we started building our own.

How we work

Specifications and part of the designs are created in Poland; manufacturing takes place in China, under our supervision. We say this openly, because that's how studio equipment is made all over the world today. The difference lies in who sets the requirements and who answers for the result: every batch arrives at our warehouse in Janki, where we inspect it, and before a product enters our catalogue, we work with it ourselves — on packshots, portraits and video shoots.

Our product descriptions state real parameters and real limitations. A 200 PLN lamp won't replace a 2,000 PLN kit — and we won't pretend otherwise.

What you'll find under the CineGEN® brand

Continuous lighting (FlatLight™, Lumifi™, ReLed™, Ensö™ panels with CRI >95), Ignitix™ photographic bulbs, softboxes and light modifiers, lighting, photo and video stands and tripods (including the Jupiter™ series), and home studio kits.

What we stand behind

CineGEN® is a trademark protected at the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland (application Z.574925, rights held by Digishots Sp. z o.o.).
Warranty service and spare parts are handled at our facility in Janki — no shipping your gear "back to the manufacturer".
You can see the equipment in person at our location in Janki (ul. Poniatowskiego 17), and you'll find tests and tutorials on the digishots.pl blog and the CineGEN YouTube channel.
