FAQs:
Can I use a softbox for filming?
Absolutely. Recently, we've been seeing an increasing trend of photography applications being used in the world of film. The light box fixture SOFTBOX 60x60cm is a great alternative to budget versions of panel lamps (so-called kinoflo). The cost of such a solution is significantly lower, and the achieved effect - the same.
What's the difference between an octagonal softbox and a rectangular one?
The difference that can be most easily noticed is the shape of reflections on reflective surfaces. This is especially noticeable in portrait and fashion photography - the octagonal shape, similar to circular, mimics solar reflections. Octagonal softboxes also have better light distribution (especially when lighting from the front).
What should I keep in mind?
- Softboxes "work" best at short distances. Set them as close as possible to the illuminated people or objects, right on the edge of the frame.
- The larger the diameter of the softbox, the softer the tonal transition between light and shadow.
- If you have to shine from a long distance - remove the diffusive fabric. You will then get even more light.
