The lighting used in the kit is classic studio continuous lighting - single-bulb softbox lamps on lighting stands. Softboxes are equipped with PureLight™ photographic bulbs with standardized parameters (color temperature of 5500K and color rendering index CRI >90). Softboxes are a basic element of a photographic studio. They are used to change the properties of light: size of the glowing surface, intensity and direction of light. Lamps of this type are becoming increasingly popular in video productions. They also serve as an excellent alternative to kinoflo lamps.

Softboxes soften tonal transitions between light and shadow. Light is evenly distributed inside the softbox and maintains identical power across the entire diffuser surface. The outside of the softbox is matte black, which prevents it from reflecting light from other lamps. Setting up and folding down is exceptionally simple, and when folded, the softbox takes up little space. The high quality materials used to make the softbox guarantee trouble-free operation for years. It has been designed and made in a way that ensures safe work with fluorescent bulbs.

At least two lamps are used in BaseXStudio™ kits due to mutual shadow compensation - one lamp serves as the main light, while the other is the fill light. The power of the bulbs used is given in the technical specification (below).

The BaseXStudio™ kit uses two lamps due to mutual shadow compensation - one lamp serves as the main light, while the other is the fill light. The fixture's dome is finished with silver material. Light is evenly distributed inside the softbox and maintains identical power across the entire diffuser surface. The outside of the softbox is matte black, which prevents it from reflecting light from other lamps.

The lamps are equipped with PureLight™ photographic bulbs with an E27 base and standardized parameters (neutral color temperature of 5500K and color rendering index CRI >90). Thanks to the natural color reproduction, the bulb does not introduce any color distortions. The generated light stream, obtained after about 90 seconds from turning on, is 3900 lumens and corresponds (approximately) to a 325W halogen bulb.
Setting up and folding down the softbox is exceptionally simple, and when folded, it takes up little space. The high quality materials used to make the softbox guarantee trouble-free operation for years.

The maximum height of a single stand is 210cm. The recommended working height is 200 cm. The stand has convenient section clamps and a 16mm studio head with a universal 1/4" thread.
The telescopic mechanism provides a wide range of work for the stand (78-210 cm, adjustable to any height) as well as various applications. The leg spread (from foot to foot) is 75cm.
The stands will work great not only with softboxes but also with flash and continuous lights, halogen lamps.

The background hanging kit consists of two CGLS-816B studio stands and a foldable two-part beam attached to them. The frame allows you to hang different photographic backgrounds (cardboard, vinyl or fabric) up to 5 kg in weight and with a maximum width of 165 cm. Backgrounds can be hung at a height ranging from 83 cm to even 205 cm.
The beam is attached to the stands using butterfly nuts, which prevents it from lifting when raising the background upwards. Unrolling the background from the roll is blocked by plugging in two handles (frogs) included with the kit.

The lightweight and economical photographic background made of polypropylene fabric ensures high durability and resistance to studio conditions - flooding, creases, tears. The cardboard roll protects against creases during transport or storage. Potential creases can be easily removed by steaming the background or weighing it down when wet.

The width and length of the fabric on the roll is enough to create an entire background without creases (cyclorama) for photographing a silhouette. The perforated texture of the background minimizes reflections from strong light points.

In real-life conditions, the object remains about 50 cm away from the background, which, combined with a shallow depth of field, causes the background's texture to become blurred.

Material Texture

Note regarding material texture - people who are new to polypropylene photographic backgrounds may be concerned that the background's texture will show up in photos. In real-life conditions, the object remains about 50 cm away from the background, which, combined with a shallow depth of field, causes the background's texture to become blurred. Using an aperture below 8 makes the background structure invisible.

Choosing Lighting Power

When selecting lighting for a photographic studio, it is important to ensure the right amount of light needed to achieve your intended purpose. The Home Photographic Studio kits may contain (depending on the version) from 2 to 16 bulbs.

• Non-living nature does not require strong lighting.
  If you are photographing an object that is not a living being, you can freely use single-bulb lamps. In product photography, exposure time is arbitrary and can always be adjusted to ensure proper exposure. A tripod will come in handy.
• Beware of people (and animals).
  When photographing people and animals, the exposure time is limited. Especially when photographing children or active pets, a significantly larger amount of light is required. Single-bulb lamps will pass the test at short distances (about 0.5 m).
• The wider the frame - the more bulbs.
  It can be assumed that two single-bulb lamps are enough for a portrait. When photographing with a large close-up, the distance between the softbox and the face is small and ensures proper exposure. Increasing the frame very quickly forces an increase in light quantity.
• Fashion on live models.
  If you plan to photograph fashion with a model (male or female), choose kits with two or more four-bulb softboxes.
