The lighting used in this kit is classic studio continuous lighting - single-bulb softbox lamps on lighting stands. The softboxes are equipped with PureLight™ photographic bulbs with standardized parameters (color temperature of 5500K and color rendering index CRI >90). Softboxes are a basic element of the photographic studio, used to change light properties: size of glowing surface, intensity and direction of light. This type of lamp is becoming increasingly popular in video productions. They also serve as an excellent alternative to kinoflo lamps.

Softboxes soften tonal transitions between light and shadow. Light is evenly distributed inside the softbox and maintains equal power across the entire diffuser surface. The outside of the softbox is matte black, preventing it from reflecting light from other lamps. Setting up and folding down is exceptionally simple, and when folded, the softbox takes up very little space. The high-quality materials used to make the softbox guarantee trouble-free operation for years. It has been designed and made in a way that ensures safe work with fluorescent bulbs.

In BaseXStudio™ kits, at least 2 lamps are used due to mutual shadow compensation - one lamp serves as the main light source, while the other acts as supplementary lighting. The power of the bulbs used is specified in the technical specification (below).

In this BaseXStudio™ kit, 2 lamps have been used due to mutual shadow compensation - one lamp serves as the main light source, while the other acts as supplementary lighting. The inside of the fixture's dome is finished with silver material. Light is evenly distributed within the softbox and maintains equal power across the entire diffuser surface. The outside of the softbox is matte black, preventing it from reflecting light from other lamps.

The lamps are equipped with PureLight™ photographic bulbs with an E27 base and standardized parameters (neutral color temperature of 5500K and color rendering index CRI >90). Thanks to the natural color reproduction, the bulb does not introduce any color distortions. The generated light stream, obtained after about 90 seconds from turning on, amounts to 5000 lumens and corresponds (approximately) to a 400W halogen bulb.
Setting up and folding down the softbox is exceptionally simple, and when folded, it takes up very little space. The high-quality materials used to make the softbox guarantee trouble-free operation for years.

The maximum height of a single stand is 210cm. The recommended working height is 200 cm. The stand has convenient section clamps and a 16mm studio head with a universal 1/4" thread.
The telescopic mechanism provides a wide range of stand operation (78-210 cm, adjustable to any height) as well as versatility in applications. The distance between the legs (from foot to foot) is 75cm.
The stands work perfectly not only with softboxes but also with flash and continuous lights, halogen lamps.

The background hanging set consists of two CGLS-816B studio stands and a foldable two-part beam attached to them. The frame allows you to hang different photographic backgrounds (cardboard, vinyl or fabric) up to 5 kg in weight and with a maximum width of 165 cm. Backgrounds can be hung at heights ranging from 83 cm to even 205 cm.
The beam has been attached to the stands using butterfly nuts, which prevents it from being lifted when raising the background upwards. The unrolling of the background from the roll is blocked by plugging in two grips (frogs) included with the kit.

The lightweight and economical photographic background made of polypropylene fabric ensures high durability and resistance to studio conditions - spills, creases, tears. The cardboard roll protects against creases during transport or storage. Potential creases can be easily removed by steaming with a steam iron or wetting the background.

The width and length of the fabric on the roll is sufficient to create an entire background without creases (cyclorama) for photographing a silhouette. The perforated texture of the background minimizes reflections from strong light sources.

In real-life conditions, the object remains about 50 cm away from the background, which, combined with shallow depth of field, causes the background texture to become blurred.

Note regarding material texture - people who are new to polypropylene photographic backgrounds may worry that the background's texture will be visible in photos. In real-life conditions, the object remains about 50 cm away from the background, which, combined with shallow depth of field, causes the background texture to become blurred. Using an aperture below 8 ensures that the background structure is invisible.

Choosing Lighting Power

When selecting lighting for a photographic studio, it's important to ensure the right amount of light needed for your intended purpose. The Home Photographic Studio kits may contain (depending on the version) from 2 to 16 bulbs.

• Inanimate nature does not require strong light.
  If you are photographing an object that is not a living being, you can freely use single-bulb lamps. In product photography, exposure time is arbitrary and can always be adjusted to ensure proper exposure. A tripod will come in handy.
• Be careful with people (and animals).
  When photographing people and animals, the exposure time is limited. Especially when it comes to children's or lively animal photography, a significantly larger amount of light is required. Single-bulb lamps will pass the test at small distances (approx. 0.5 m).
• The wider the frame - the more bulbs.
  You can assume that for portraits you can use two single-bulb lamps. When taking photos with a large close-up, the distance between the softbox and the face is small and ensures proper exposure. Increasing the size of the frame quickly requires an increase in light intensity.
• Fashion on live models.
  If you plan to do fashion photography with a model (male or female), choose kits with two or more four-bulb softboxes.
