The continuous lighting used in the kit is single-bulb softbox lamps on lighting stands. The softboxes are equipped with remotely controlled LED bulbs with adjustable color temperature and adjustable bulb power. Softboxes are a basic element of a photo studio. They are designed for photographic and film applications. They are used to change light properties: size of glowing surface, intensity and direction of light.

Softbox softens tonal transitions between light and shadow. Light is evenly distributed inside the softbox and maintains identical power across the entire diffuser surface. The outside of the softbox is matte black, so it does not reflect light from other lamps. Folding and unfolding is exceptionally simple, and a folded softbox takes up little space. High quality materials used to make the softbox guarantee trouble-free operation for years. It has been designed and made in a way that ensures safe work with led bulbs.

In BaseLStudio™ kits, at least 2 lamps are used due to mutual shadow compensation - one lamp serves as main light, while the other is supplementary light. The power of the bulbs used is given in the technical specification (below).

Light is evenly distributed already inside the softbox and maintains identical power across the entire diffuser surface. The outside of the softbox is matte black, so it does not reflect light from other lamps.

The strong side of this kit is lighting with remote brightness and color temperature control. Here, innovative LED Bi-Color DaVinci™ series bulbs are used that can be regulated using included pilots

Variable color temperature in the bulb is achieved in a classic way known from on-camera lights - by mounting a chessboard of luminescent diodes with two different color temperatures. This solution has an additional advantage: shifts in the spectrum of individual diodes increase effective color rendering for the entire bulb. The range of color temperatures goes from 3600K to 6200K. High luminous efficiency of the bulb means that, despite low active power consumption, we achieve very high luminance corresponding to 300-watt bulbs.

LED matrices are covered with a protective light-diffusing dome (diffuser) with an area of 112cm², so emitted light has a pleasant, soft distribution regardless of intensity. At short distances, the softening of light can correspond to that of a softbox or beauty dish lamp. The bulb gives very nice, relatively large reflections.

The generated light is continuous without flickering effect, which enables filming with higher frame rates. The bulb is designed for indoor use, protection class IP20. It is intended for professional applications in photo studio conditions. The bulb is not suitable for home use. The bulb housing is not hermetically sealed.

The maximum height of a single stand is 210cm. The recommended working height is 200 cm. The stand has convenient section clamps and a studio head with universal 1/4" thread.
Telescopic mechanism provides a wide range of stand operation (78-210 cm, adjustable to any height) as well as versatility in applications. Leg spread (from foot to foot) is 75cm.
The stands work great not only with softboxes but also with flash and continuous lights, halogen lamps.

The background hanging kit consists of two CGLS-816B studio stands and a foldable two-part beam attached to them. The frame allows you to hang various photographic backgrounds (cardboard, vinyl or fabric) up to 5 kg in weight and with maximum width of 165 cm. Backgrounds can be hung at heights ranging from 83 cm to even 205 cm.The beam has been attached to the stands using butterfly nuts, which prevents it from being lifted when raising the background upwards. Unrolling the background from the roll is blocked by plugging in two handles (frogs) included with the kit.

Light and economical photographic background made of polypropylene fabric ensures high durability and resistance to studio conditions - flooding, folding, tearing. The cardboard roll protects against creases during transport or storage. Potential creases can be easily removed by ironing with steam or wetting the background.

The width and length of the fabric on the roll is enough to create an entire background without folds (cyclorama) for photographing a silhouette. Perforated texture of the background minimizes reflections from strong light points.

Note regarding material texture - people who are new to polypropylene photographic backgrounds may be afraid that the background texture will show up in photos. In real conditions, the object remains about 50 cm away from the background which, combined with shallow depth of field, causes the background texture to become blurred.

In real conditions, the object remains about 50 cm away from the background which, combined with shallow depth of field, causes the background texture to become blurred. Using an aperture below 8 makes the structure invisible.

Choosing lighting power

When selecting lighting for a photo studio, you should take care of the proper amount of light needed to achieve your goal. The Home Photo Studio kits may contain (depending on the version) from 2 to 16 bulbs.

• Non-living nature does not require strong light.
  If you are photographing an object that is not a living being, you can freely use single-bulb lamps. In product photography, exposure time is arbitrary and it's always possible to adjust it so the exposure is correct. A tripod will come in handy.
• Beware of people (and animals)
  During photography of people and animals, exposure time is limited. Especially when photographing children or lively animals, you need a significantly larger amount of light. Single-bulb lamps will pass the test at short distances (about 0.5 m).
• The wider the frame - the more bulbs.
  You can assume that for portraits, two single-bulb lamps can be used. When photographing with a large close-up, the distance of the softbox from the face is small and provides proper exposure. Increasing the frame very quickly forces you to increase the amount of light.
• Fashion on live models
  If you plan fashion photography with a model (male or female), choose kits with two or more four-bulb softboxes.
